Living in Wales

St Donats is a small village located just outside Llantwit Major in the Vale of Glamorgan which is the most southerly point of Wales.  We are lucky to be blessed with beautiful towns, villages, countryside and the coast.

Close to the city

We are approximately 30 minutes from Cardiff, the capital city, which is the largest city in Wales and has a wealth of facilities you would expect to find in a major city, yet it's compact, welcoming and accessible. It's a friendly city with a prosperous economy and its aspiration is to become Europe’s most liveable Capital City, all of which makes for an excellent quality of life.

Visit Cardiff

Although the College is in a rural location, the road links are good and there are train stations in Llantwit Major and Bridgend. Cardiff airport is also just 20 minutes from the College and links to many International destinations.

Wales and the UK

Situated on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, the Vale of Glamorgan and its surrounding areas offer a huge range of activities for people of all ages.  This leaflet provides a wealth of information on things to do and places to see.

The excellent road links from St Donat's to the surrounding areas and also to the rest of the UK enable easy access to a huge variety of activities, sights and attractions all across Britain. The following guide shows what the UK and Wales have to offer:

Weather

The climate in Wales is generally temperate; we have four defined seasons but it does rain quite frequently. Summers can be hot and winters can be very cold with occasional snowfall. You can also expect frequent and sometimes heavy rain so be prepared for these changes in climate.
